Learn the basics of the pottery wheel
LEAVE WITH
2 pieces to take home and a smile
Two people. Two wheels. Two hours. Each gets their own wheel, and Antonio will guide them through the basics.
Some of it will work. Some of it won't. Both are normal. Tell them to wear old clothes and bring someone they like.

antonio's METHOD
Antonio Salvador has perfected his own teaching method to make it easier for beginners to learn and pick up ceramics skills they've never tried before.
The Cookie
The Hooks
The Duck
The Wings
The Illuminati
Antonio grew up between Mozambique and Portugal, drawing comic books and watching his grandmother make ceramics. He studied Fine Arts in Lisbon, then 3D Animation in Bournemouth. Spent years in advertising. He was good at it. He was also in the wrong place. So he left —learned ceramics in depth, found a studio in Lisbon with good light, and opened Galeria Escultórica to share his art and passion for sculpture with you.
"He was gentle, gave very clear explanations, and gradually introduced more concepts." - CECI H
None. The workshops are designed for people who have never touched a wheel — or never touched clay at all. The Intro to the Potter's Wheel and Two on the Wheel sessions both start from zero. If you've never done anything like this, that's exactly who these are for.
Six to 160. There is no upper limit. Children are welcome — the minimum age is 6, and they tend to take to it quickly.
Old clothes. Clay doesn't respect good fabric. Wear something you're genuinely fine ruining. Aprons are provided, but clay has a way of getting everywhere regardless.
You can see what times are available when making a booking. Typically, we do sessions Monday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 8pm. Sunday we finish up a little earlier.
The Two on the Wheel is designed for one or two people — it's in the name. The Intro to the Potter's Wheel can accommodate up to two people working simultaneously. For larger groups — birthdays, hen parties, team events — contact Antonio. He has run sessions for groups of eight and adapted accordingly.
Pieces need to dry, then be bisque-fired, then glazed, then fired again. The full process takes two to three weeks depending on humidity and kiln schedule. If you're visiting from abroad and can't wait, ask Antonio about the express option in your session.
Yes. Shipping is arranged separately and priced depending on destination and size. Discuss with Antonio during your session.
We are a small studio with sessions limited to two wheels and bookings held exclusively for you. Payment is non-refundable, but we'll always try to find a way to reschedule if life gets in the way. Contact Antonio as early as you can
