the story of galeria escultorica

A pottery studio for workshops in Alcântara, Lisbon with good light. Two wheels. One teacher - Antonio Salvador. No experience needed.

People arrive not knowing what they're doing. That's exactly the point.

Most people who walk through the door have never touched a wheel. They're designers, programmers, accountants — people who spend their days making things with their minds and nothing with their hands.

They arrive slightly unsure of themselves. They leave with something they made, and a look on their face Antonio has learned to recognise.

Clay has memory. if you rush, it collapses.

The wheel requires your complete attention. You cannot be somewhere else while your hands are in it. For most people, two hours at the wheel is the first time in months they've been fully inside a single moment.

Antonio Salvador discovered he loved teaching by accident. His mother was a teacher. His brother is a teacher. He says the passion is transmitted — that watching someone make something for the first time is as good as making it yourself.

book our bestselling workshop

"I took a ceramic wheel class with a friend and it was absolutely fantastic: a perfect blend of creativity, relaxation, and fun. If you want to put your phone down and truly lose yourself in the moment, this is the place to do it."

BOOK A WORKSHOP

At the pottery studio in Lisbon

Every piece made once and not repeated.

The lizards hang on the walls to scare away bad energy — their mythology drawn from African and Portuguese traditions, tangled into something entirely Antonio's own. The Medusa reimagined not as a monster but as a woman reclaiming power. Cups with handles unlike any handles you've seen. A pot for writing your wishes on paper and setting them on fire.

Every piece is made once. The glaze decisions that happen at 1200°C cannot be planned for or repeated. When it sells, it's gone.

"They are expressive. They are foolish. They are playful. I like to give this vibe of joy — that you look at them and find this is funny, this is ridiculous."
